The Green River’s indoor track team competed at the Simplot Games Indoor Track Meet in Pocatello, Idaho over the weekend. There were 21 Wyoming teams in attendance, as well as teams from 20 different states, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with a total of 2,000 athletes competing in one of the most prestigious Indoor Track Meets in the United States. Last week, the team competed in Rock Springs Wednesday night and a second time in Green River Thursday for its last chance meet. The Lady Wolves basketball team traveled to Riverton and Cody this weekend and came home with two more wins. The two non-conference wins, take the Lady Wolves to 9-9 in the regular season. A leader for the Green River High School football team will become a Minot State University Beaver after graduating this May. Anthony Mitchell signed a letter of intent to play football in Minot, N.D., Monday afternoon. "It seemed like the program needed me," Anthony said. He is a two-time All-State and All-Conference selection for the Wolves. The Green River High School Boys and Girls Indoor Track Team sent a small group of athletes to Casper Friday and Saturday due to injuries and students taking college entrance exams. Despite the small team, there were some personal records set and good improvements by many of the Green River competitors. The Wolves have had tremendous success in two games during the weekend. Green River scored two wins, a 62-41 victory over Riverton Feb. 8, and a 70-43 win over Cody a day later. The Green River High School Girls and Boys Indoor Track team traveled to Ogden, Utah, last week to Weber State University for its 26th Annual Weber State University Developmental Indoor Track and Field Meet. The Lady Wolves may have had the home-court advantage, but they still lost two games. On Thursday, the Lady Wolves took on the Rock Springs Lady Tigers and lost 59-52. Despite a strong showing by the Wolves grapplers in Riverton, the boys ended up with a second-place finish during the annual Ron Thon Memorial tournament. The Wolves wrestlers came home with an impressive first-place finish after competing in the Tiger Grizz Invitational in Idaho Falls, Idaho, over the weekend. The Wolves scored 223 points during the tournament, edging out Columbia High School, which scored 222 and Kuna High School rounding out the top three with 201.5 points. A chance to play at home greatly benefited the Wolves when taking on the Jackson Hole Broncs Saturday.
