Girls rebound in win over Worland Thurs.

In a dominating fashion, the Lady Wolves came home with a win against Worland.

Last Thursday, the Green River Lady Wolves basketball team traveled to Worland earning a commanding 64-39 win.

The first quarter started off slow for the Lady Wolves, but then they started to work hard and were more focused on their defense,” head coach Rick Carroll said.

“We increased the intensity and that increased the turnovers we created for Worland,” Carroll said. “We also got very serious on the glass and limited them to one shot each possession.”

Right now, the team is rebounding pretty well and they took good care of the basketball against Worland.

“We are slowly getting to a point where our defense is starting to look good,” he said.

Things the team still needs to improve on is communication on the floor. Carroll said they will also need to secure the ball and demonstrate more consistency.

“I hope to see an improvement in our overall team confidence, which should lead to an improvement in our scoring output,” Carroll said.

He said he would also like to see the Lady Wolves play at a high level through all four quarters.

This week, the Lady Wolves will play their first conference game against the Lady Red Devils in Evanston Thursday, followed by a another conference game on Saturday in Green River against Jackson at 2:30 p.m.

“We are watching a great deal of film and making sure we know what both Evanston and Jackson do on the floor,” Carroll said. “We continue to work on the areas we need to improve as well.”

Leading the team in the Worland game was Kayde Strauss with 23 points, two rebounds, two assists and four steals, followed by Ashelyn Birch with 14 points, 18 rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal and Maddie Heiser with 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
