Green River High School’s Track and Field teams changed schedules last week, in part due to weather. The Wolves participated this past Thursday in the Nancy Steinberg Invitational at Outlaw Stadium in Rawlins. They competed against eight other local teams including Rock Springs, Pinedale, Big Piney, Encampment, Saratoga, HEM, Little Snake River and the host Rawlins. This past Wednesday, the Green River High School Boys and Girls Outdoor Track and Field team hosted six teams from Southwest Wyoming which included Rock Springs, Riverton, Farson/Eden, Rawlins, Pinedale and Evanston. This past weekend, boys and girls in the Green River High School Spring Tennis program kicked of the short four-week spring season with an overnight trip to compete against teams from Thunder Basin and Campbell County High School. This program has no Regional or State culminating events, but allows tennis players to have one month of competitive tennis for those schools who field teams for this program. This past Saturday the Wolves competed against their rivals as Rock Springs High School hosted the Tiger Quad Meet at Tiger Stadium. Rock Springs and Green River were also joined by Lander and Lyman competing in their first outdoor Track and Field meet of the season. The Green River High School Boys and Girls Spring Tennis program will be getting underway Monday, March 31 again this year, according to Head Tennis Coach Phil Harder. This past week the Green River High School Indoor Track team sent a small team of qualifiers to State. Seven girls and 12 boys traveled to Gillette to compete against a strong field of 14 other 4A teams for the 2025 State Indoor Track Championships. The Green River Wolves Wrestling teams sent their State qualifies to Casper this weekend to compete at the 2025 4A State Wrestling Championships. The Green River Boys and Girls Indoor Track teams traveled to Laramie to compete for their last opportunity to qualify for State. After competing two weeks ago in an Indoor Track meet in Pocatello, Idaho, a number of Green River High School athletes qualified for the highly prestigious 45th Annual Simplot Games on the same track, which took place this past week. The Braves lived up to their reputation as one of the strong programs in the state, winning the Boys Varsity 40-28, the Girls Varsity 36-9 and the Boys Junior Varsity 60-20 for a clean sweep in the dual match competition. In one of the largest in-state wrestling tournaments of the year, the Wolves Wrestling team traveled to Riverton this past weekend to participate in the Ron Thon Invitational. Taking place at Riverton High School on Friday and Saturday, the tournament had the Wolves competing against 41 other teams for the boys and 38 teams for the girls. The Green River High School Boys Varsity Wrestling team traveled by bus nearly 700 miles in approximately ten hours to participate in one of the top National High School Wrestling Tournaments in the nation this past week.
