Green River High School’s Track and Field teams changed schedules last week, in part due to weather. The Wolves participated this past Thursday in the Nancy Steinberg Invitational at Outlaw Stadium in Rawlins. They competed against eight other local teams including Rock Springs, Pinedale, Big Piney, Encampment, Saratoga, HEM, Little Snake River and the host Rawlins.
It was a very nice day in Rawlins, according to Green River’s Head Track Coach Dan Hansen. The team competed well, with the boys finishing third out of the nine teams and the girls coming in fourth.
Hansen singled out Sophomore Nicole Wilson who won three events, taking first in the 100M Hurdles, 300M Hurdles and the High Jump. The coach also highlighted Senior Jordan Andrews, who won the 800M and 1600M Runs.
Hansen commented that “we continue to get better each meet as the season progresses.” He went on to exclaim: “There is excitement on the team this year that is great to see from the athletes.”
This week, the team will be attending the Star Valley meet today, weather permitting, or the Morgan Utah meet on Saturday.
