    Mosquitoes are becoming a concern in Green River, resulting in the city starting its mosquito control program. According to a press release from the city, the parks and recreation department has already placed BTI biscuits in standing water found on city property. The biscuits prevent mosquito larvae from developing into adults.     In two nights of rodeo action featuring more than 100 contestants, the Overland Stage Stampede Rodeo brought hundreds of fans to the Green River's rodeo grounds. According to information from the city's parks and recreation department, 850 people attended Friday night's competition, with 1,050 attending Saturday.     Memorial Day Weekend kicked off the first races of the season at Sweetwater Speedway, with the rainy weather not holding back any of the action. Races focused on five divisions consisting of International Motorsports Competition Association (IMCA) Modified, IMCA Sportmod, IMCA Stock Car, Cruiser, and Dwarf Cars.     Solvay is now the sole owner of the soda ash operation bearing the company’s name west of Green River. The company issued a press release Wednesday morning announcing it had purchased the 20% minority stake in the operation owned by AGC for $120 million in a deal that was completed later that day.     A early-morning house fire Saturday was caused by a rechargeable battery pack according to the Green River Fire Department. Emergency responders were dispatched to the fire at 1050 Wilkes Drive shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
