Farmers' Market returning in July

The Green River URA Main Street agency has announced that the annual Farmers' Market will begin Wednesday July 5 and will once again take place on Roosevelt Drive next to Harley Davidson. The Farmers' Market will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"We are excited to bring back the Farmers' Market for Green River and appreciate the support the vendors give to it on a weekly basis," Bonnie Tippy, President of the URA Main Street Board, said in a press release. "Our board will run the event weekly through the 13th of September and then we will review the success and plan on the timing and location for the following year."

According to the URA, the objectives of the Farmers' Market are to "provide fresh produce and farm products to the City of Green River on a regular basis, encourage the growing and sale of locally grown or produced products, provide a venue for vendors (e.g., gardeners, crafters, artists, restaurants) to sell their goods, and enhance a feeling of community."

Products sold at the market must be grown, produced, or processed by the vendor or brought directly from the producer. Products that can be sold include raw agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants; processed food and other agricultural products, such as cheese, oils, vinegars, honey, canned goods, baked goods, soap, herbal preparations, and fresh products like eggs and beef; and crafts and original artwork.

Vendors interested in participating in the Farmers' Market are asked to fill out a vendor's packet, which is available at City Hall or on the City of Green River website. Those who are interested can go to cityofgreenriver.org, click on "Departments," click on "Mainstreet-URA," click on "Events," and download the Famers Market packet from there.

Those who fill out the packet should send the completed information to 50 East 2nd North, Green River, WY 82935 with Attention: Farmers' Market.

The Farmers' Market is free to vendors and patrons.
