The Green River Volunteer Fire Department had their work cut out for them after being dispatched to a deck fire and a trailer fire less than six hours apart. Just after one a.m., firefighters were called out to the scene of a deck fire on New Mexico Street. The annual Labor Day picnic, originally scheduled for Sept. 7 has been cancelled. The Green River High School girls swim team is getting used to being in the 3A division this year. Having dropped down from 4A means different qualifying times in 3A, but it doesn't mean the competition has gotten any easier on the team.
