GR Chamber announces City-Wide Clean-Up Week

Green River residents are being asked for their help in keeping the city clean.

The Green River Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Green River and Wyoming Waste Systems, recently announced the 2025 City-Wide Clean-Up Week.

“City of Green River citizens are encouraged to help beautify the city by picking up trash and debris collected over the past year,” the Green River Chamber explained in a press release. “Areas of focus include the business corridors and education and recreation areas within the city limits.”

The event is planned for May 13-17. Volunteers will pick up bags and gloves starting Tuesday May 13-16 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Green River Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, and on Saturday May 17 from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. Volunteers will then choose an area to clean. All collected trash and debris needs to be placed in designated Wyoming Waste dumpsters. These dumpsters will have “Clean Up Week Signs” on them. The public needs to use these designated dumpsters during the clean-up, according to the Chamber. Additionally, no mattresses or furniture are allowed in clean-up week dumpsters.

Volunteers can sign up in advance from May 12 to May 16. For more information, contact the Green River Chamber at 307-872-6190 or e-mail membership@grchamber.com.

Other events to help citizens keep the city and their personal spaces clean will also be taking place in the coming week.

Shredding bins will be available at the Green River Chamber from May 14.

“Please be advised this is on a first-come, first-serve basis in case the bins do fill up,” the Chamber explained.

On May 17, WYODATA security will be in the Green River Chamber parking lot to shred paperwork.

“Residents are welcome to bring the materials they need to shred to the Chamber during this time; we only allow a banker’s box worth of material this year,” the press release explained. “Please make sure to remove paper and binder clips, and binders are not allowed, so please make sure all your papers are loose.”

Green River Transfer Station Free Day is May 17 this year. On this day, residents of Green River can bring in trash to the Green River Transfer Station, and the pounds of trash disposed will not be counted toward their yearly total of 1,800 pounds. Items that are charged will continue with a charge on that day, including oil, antifreeze, electronic items, and tires. The transfer station will accept mattresses, paint, concrete or any household hazardous items.

For information for Transfer Station Free Day, contact Wyoming Waste at (307) 382-2929.
