During a friendly game of Mahjong, seniors found out that they didn't need to worry so much about other players as they did the game itself. Students from throughout Sweetwater County came to the Sweetwater County Historical Museum to learn about the county's past The museum hosted its annual history fair last week and along with a tour of the museum, children were taught how to churn their own butter and pan for gold. It’s an honor for those who qualified to attend the National Speech and Debate Association’s National Tournament, but now’s the time to find the funding to pay for it. Green River High School’s 2018 hall of fame inductees include a World War II airman, a professor of engineering from the University of Wyoming, a doctor and two girl’s basketball teams. Over the last 100 years, Lillian Sanders has seen a lot of changes. On May 3, Sanders turned 100 and she celebrated it on Saturday with a small party at Mission at Castle Rock Rehabilitation Center. For the city’s 35th year of being designated Tree City USA, the city is hosting a special Arbor Day event. Six Sweetwater County students were honored when they learned they had placed at the Wyoming Young Authors Competition. The county students receiving the awards were told by their schools after both school districts’ young authors coordinators were notified. This year’s Wyoming Writers Conference will take place in Dubois June 1-3 and a lot of talented guest author’s are scheduled to attend. New York Times best selling author William Kent Krueger will give the keynote address at the 44th Annual Wyoming Writers, Inc.
