A chimney fire at the Red Feather Thursday night resulted in a portion of Flaming Gorge Way being closed off as firefighters extinguished the blaze, but resulted in little damage to the restaurant. The Sweetwater County Historical Museum is pleased to announce an exhibit celebrating its 50th anniversary. Founded in 1967, the museum was originally included in the plans for the new courthouse built that same year and moved into a renovated 1931 post office building next door in 2001. During its 50-year history, it has had only three directors. The first two, Henry Chadey and Ruth Lauritzen, each served the museum for more than 50 years. On Monday morning, while temperatures were in the 20s, eight cars derailed in the Green River yard. Kristen South, Union Pacific Railroad media relations director for the Wyoming area, said at about 9:45 a.m. eight cars derailed, but remained in an upright position. Around noon last Thursday, traffic on Uinta Drive was diverted and two businesses were evacuated after a contractor hit a gas line. According to Darren Shepherd, Dominion Energy Wyoming spokesman, a contractor completing work near two businesses hit a one-way feed, 2-inch plastic gas line.
