The Bobcat Invitational at Thermopolis High School this past Friday was the site of the Green River Track and Field team's final regular season meet prior to Regionals in Evanston.
There were 21 girls teams competing, with the Lady Wolves placing fourth overall, while the boys had 23 teams and they placed 13th. A number of competitors for Green River improved on their season's best marks to date.
The top finisher of the day was on the girl's side, where Senior Thrower Lillian Allison finished first in the Shot Put with a fine throw of 39-00.75 and second in the Discus at 125-0.
"The weather was outstanding for our final regular season meet and the kids performed well leading into the Regional Track Meet," Head Coach Dan Hansen said. "Now is the second part of the season and we will be looking to add to our total number of kids qualifying for the State meet at Regionals."
Coach Hansen pointed out that any athlete that places in the top eight in an individual event or top four in relays qualifies for the State meet.
At this point, Coach Hansen noted, Green River has Nicole Wilson qualified in the High Jump and Lillian Allison qualified in the throws.
Hansen went on to exclaim: "We will definitely be looking forward to the challenge at the Regionals this Friday and Saturday."
The 4A Regionals Competition takes place this week on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17 at Evanston High School.
