The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners has selected three outstanding local high school seniors to receive the 2025 County Commissioners Scholarships—part of a long-standing statewide effort to keep higher education affordable for Wyoming students.
This year’s recipients are Addison Demaret and Lilly Harris from Green River High School and Hadlee Miller from Rock Springs High School.
The commissioners also named three ranked alternates: Julie Bowen and Traycie Fox from Green River High School and Bryce Chatterley from Rock Springs High School.
Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship—$500 per semester—to attend a Wyoming college or the University of Wyoming in 2025–2026. The program, administered in partnership with UW’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, comes at no cost to the county.
“These scholarships represent an investment in our youth and the future of Sweetwater County,” said Commission Chairman Keaton West. “We’re proud to support local students in their pursuit of higher education and grateful to the University of Wyoming for making this opportunity possible.”
The County Commissioners Scholarship program is rooted in Wyoming law and has been a tradition for decades. Every year, boards of county commissioners across the state are authorized to select three new graduating seniors—and one returning college student—to receive scholarships aimed at encouraging enrollment in Wyoming institutions.
Recipients are chosen based on academic performance, ACT scores, leadership, and extracurricular involvement. This year, eight students applied in Sweetwater County.
“We had a strong pool of applicants,” said West. “It’s never easy to narrow it down. The caliber of students in our community continues to impress.”
