Runners set personal records in Rock Springs

This past week the Green River High School Girls and Boys Cross Country teams competed at the Rock Springs Invitational with teams from Rock Springs, Mountain View, Lyman and Manila, Utah. The girls team took first place for the third time this season while the boys took forth.

Five of the Lady Wolves' runners set their personal best times of the season, led by Isabelle Murdock taking second in the field of 26 runners with a fine time of 21:03.1. She was followed in the top 10 by Madison Murdock taking sixth in 21:43.6, Lily Murdock taking seventh in 21:53.9, and Meeka Iwen taking eighth in 22:46.7. Jayleigh Wright was 10th in 23:40.6, Pamela Eskdal Pena 21st in 27:41.0, with Kayla Worden 25th in 34:25.9 and Erika Robinson 26th in 36:50.4.

The boys were led by Nathan Stevenson taking second, also in a fine time of 16:51.3. He was followed by Hale Iwen taking 15th in 19:03.6, James Harper taking 26th in 20:07.4, Keegan Gailey taking 29th in 20:37.2, Marcos Mandujano taking 30th in 20:46.3, Jordan Andrew taking 31st in 21.03.3 and Christian Oswald taking 33rd in 21:34.2.

Cross Country Head Coach Craig Leavitt was very pleased with the team's performance as he noted Isabella, Madison, Lily, Meeka, Kayla, Nate, Keegan, Marcos, Jordan and Christian all had personal records. He felt they ran great with a big improvement particularly by Isabelle and Nathan. The Coach stated that he is excited about this week and the next meet in Lander.

The Wolves will travel to Lander today for the 3A West Conference Cross Country Meet that takes place at the Lander Golf Course. Cody, Evanston, Green River, Lander, Lyman, Mountain View, Powell, and Riverton will be participating.
