Track team competes in RS

The weatherman predicted high winds for the Ted Schroeder Invitational Track Meet In Rock Springs and to no ones surprise, the cold winds were howling by mid morning.

The Green River track team took the short journey east to compete with much of the same teams they have gone against in all their meets to date.

The new team this week was Riverton who competed with the host Rock Springs, Evanston and Green River along with Mountain View, Cokeville, Pinedale, Big Piney, Kemmerer, Farson, Encampment and Little Snake River.

The wind coming from the west, and at their backs, actually helped the times of the sprinters, hurdlers, and the distances, of the long and triple jumpers.

Finishing in the top eight and scoring team points for the lady Wolves were junior Kalea Gibson who took seventh in the 200-meter dash in 28.96, as well as taking second in the high jump clearing 5-00.

There were many other performers for both the girls and boys who set their personal record having their best performance to date in the meet as well as the relay teams improving both their finish and their times.

On the day, the girls finished sixth among the 12 teams and the boys took third. Head coach Dan Hansen said his team did very well under the conditions.
