    The Green River High School Speech and Debate team came home with a third-place finish. The team traveled to Cheyenne to compete in the Cheyenne East tournament this past weekend. About 26 schools attended the tourney. Of those, 11 were from Wyoming and the rest were from Colorado. Alexander Marchal, a sophomore at the University of Wyoming, who is majoring in economics and finance and minoring in the honors program and mathematics, recently received news from Sen.   • Man pleas not guilty in shooting

    A Green River man accused of shooting another man pleaded not guilty to a felony charge. Ted G. Kalivas, 58, appeared in the Third District Court of Judge Richard Lavery at an arraignment to aggravated assault and battery. If Kalivas is found guilty of the felony, he could face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.     Thanks to the communities’ efforts, about 175 soldiers serving overseas will receive a care package for Christmas. Earl McDonald, VFW Post No. 2321 Cmdr., and District No. 4 Cmdr., said most of the packages are going to Afghanistan or to the Mediterranean.
