Local teachers across the school district are recognized for their hard work each year, with several being honored specifically as the Teacher of the Year nominees.
Sweetwater County School District No. 2 recently announced this year's nominee finalists.
"The outstanding teachers in Sweetwater County School District No. 2 shine brightly, evidenced by the 25 nominations from peers and students for this year's Teacher of the Year," the school district said in a press release. "This exemplary group of educators represents an astounding 392.5 years of collective service, a testament to their commitment to education."
A committee went through the nominations and selected six finalists for the 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year for the district. Together, the six finalists have a combined 123 years of service.
The winner will be announced and recognized during the June 11 School Board meeting. Their application will then advance to the Wyoming Teacher of the Year competition, with the state winner announced in early fall.
