In another tune up meet before Regionals, the Green River High School Track and Field team took part in the Jeff Hereford Invitational Track Meet in Mountain View this past Tuesday, April 30. The Wolves competed along with teams from Rock Springs, Cokeville, Evanston, Lyman, Big Piney and host Mountain View.
A number of competitors did not make the trip for the Wolves due to various scheduling conflicts. There were, however, a number of competitors who achieved their personal records for the season.
There were several top performances on the day, with athletes finishing in the top three in their events. For the girls, Nicole Wilson took first in the 300 Meter Hurdles, with teammate Madison Murdock finishing second. Wilson also was third in the 100 Meter Hurdles, while Izzy Murdock took second in the 800 Meter Run. Eva Murray took third in the 200 Meter Dash. The Lady Wolves 4X400 Relay team came in first, and the 1600 Meter Sprint Medley team took second. Finally, the girls had two throwers place in the top three as Sophia Arnold was second in the Discus with teammate Lydia Westenskow taking third.
Top three finishers for the boys included Chaz Helmandollar taking third in the 100 Meter Dash, Andrew Jordan taking third in the 800 Meter Run, Raab Poignee taking third in the 200 Meter Dash, and the 4x400 Meter Relay team coming in second.
The Wolves were originally scheduled for a meet in Jackson on Friday, May 3. However, they ended up turning around on the way there due to considerable snow.
The 4A West Regional Track and Field meet will take place in Rock Springs this Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11, in Rock Springs.
