Tennis team plays hard at State

The Green River High School Girls and Boys Tennis teams competed with 16 other teams at the Wyoming High School State Tennis Championships in Gillette this past Monday and Tuesday. The more experienced girls team finished in 10th place while the boys were 13th in the16-team field.

Head Coach Phil Harder has commented that he is proud of the way his team worked very hard in practice and how hard they played in the games.

Coach Harder went on to comment that "it was a building year for the Wolves, but they learned a lot and I know they will get out between now and next fall to get better and improve on their skills."

Harder exclaimed that the coaches are proud of Chris Wilson as he took on the role of #1 Singles and held his own and competed all season long. Dylan Archibald also had a strong showing at the #2 Singles position and worked his way through the back draw of the bracket, and they are excited for him to step up next year.

Coach Harder felt the Lady Wolves battled all season long and had great Dual results with other teams. He noted "our freshman crew at #3 Doubles battled 2-2 at State and had their chances."

Harder mention Brianna Strauss captured All Conference and All State Honors this year, which was her goal all year long, and said "we're proud of her and her play."

Coach Harder also stated "we're are also proud of our senior Doubles players Hannah Skinner and Raygan Cochrun who have put in lots of time over the past four years."  Finally Coach Harder stated that "we also had a fairly young ladies squad and I know they will continue to put in the work in the off season as they did this past summer."
