Lady Wolves Softball steals a win from Worland and loses to Cody

The Lady Wolves Softball team hosted a conference game against the Worland Warriors last Friday. The Lady Wolves scored one run in the second inning, nine runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning, winning the game with a final score of 14-4.

"The girls battled the entire game and we had some people step up in some pretty huge moments during the game," said Head Coach Blair Aimone. "It was really awesome to see as a coach because everyone contributed and accepted their role."

Beating Worland has landed Green River a spot in the State Championships.

The Lady Wolves hosted another conference game against the Cody Fillies on Saturday. It was a rough game for Green River, as they only scored one run in the second inning and were dominated the rest of the game by Cody.

Senior players Lani Blaylock and Shelby Carson were honored with their families between the JV and Varsity game against Cody.

The Lady Wolves have condensed the team to the players that will be competing at State, and they are working hard at practices, focusing on the fundamentals because the fundamentals will win games.

Green River is ranked fourth in the 4A West Conference along with Rock Springs ranked third, Kelly Walsh ranked second and the undefeated Cody ranked first. The Lady Wolves have played all of their regular season games and look forward to competing in the 4A State Championships in Gillette on May 18-20.
