Green River Police Department reports for Sept. 16

At 11:33 a.m., officers and GRFD responded to a report of an explosion and the garage on fire on E 4th S Street. The Green River Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire in the garage. Officers met with a subject, who was later issued a citation and arrested for alleged public intoxication. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Sept. 17

At 10:46 a.m., officers responded to the city horse corrals for a report of a larceny. Officers met with an individual who reported a tire missing from their trailer. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 11:09 a.m., officers responded to a report of a missing person. Officers met with an individual who reported another adult individual as missing. Officers attempted to locate or make contact with the individual, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

Sept 18

At 4:59 a.m., officers responded to a report of a hit and run on W 2nd N Street. Officers met with the owner of a truck and trailer who reported the damage to the truck and trailer. Officers gathered information and attempted to locate the suspected vehicle. Later officers were contacted by the driver of the other vehicle. It was reported the first vehicle was traveling west on W 2 N when it swerved for a deer in the roadway and struck the truck and trailer that were parked on the north side of the roadway. The driver left the area, then later came back to make contact with the owner of the truck and trailer. No contact was made so the driver of the first vehicle left a note. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:46 p.m., officers observed a vehicle make two quick turns without using a blinker and then run the stop sign at Roosevelt Drive and Wilkes Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver who was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license. Officers issued Chantell Coen, of Green River, a citation for alleged driving while suspended, and completed a report of the incident.

At 6:53 p.m., officers responded to a report of a dispute on Wilson Street. Officers met with individuals involved in an altercation, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious circumstances on Knotty Pine Street. Officers met with an individual who reported a broken window in the back door of a residence. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 19

At 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a report of property damage at Green River High School. Officers met with an individual who reported damage to their vehicle caused by another individual. Officers met with the individual, gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 9:57 a.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny at FMC Park. Officers met with a City parks employee who reported the theft of a portable bathroom. Officers located the porta potty in a nearby ravine, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 1:11 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on West Teton Boulevard. It was reported one vehicle was traveling southwest on W Teton Blvd. Another vehicle had been parked on the east side of the roadway, then began to initiate a U- turn and when that vehicle pulled into the roadway it struck the first vehicle. Officers gathered information, issued the driver of the second vehicle Cara Straw, of Green River, a citation for alleged inattentive driving, and completed a report of the incident.

At 11:35 p.m., officers responded to a report of a subject that had opened a mailbox and looked inside on Hoover Drive. Officers patrolled the area and located a possible suspect. Officers met with the subject and located several pieces of mail belonging to different individuals. Officers made contact with the owners of the mail, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 20

At 8:39 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Monroe Avenue and issued the driver Scott McDaniel, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding school zone.

At 12:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious odor on Monroe Avenue. Officers observed a vehicle that was leaking gasoline and made contact with the owner of the vehicle. Officers advised the owner of the vehicle and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of threats or harassment. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving threatening text messages from an unknown number. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 6:23 p.m., officers responded to the Hitching Post parking lot for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was parked facing west in the north end of the parking lot. As that vehicle was backing up it struck a second vehicle, which was parked directly behind the first vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 6:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of fraud on Pennsylvania Boulevard. Officers met with an individual who reported fraudulent charges on their debit card. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to a report of a transient causing a scene and refusing to leave the property at Maverick. Officers met with the two individuals refusing to leave, issued a trespass warning, and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 21

At 11:55 a.m., officers responded to a report of a parking complaint on N 2nd E Street. Officers met with an individual regarding an abandoned camper. Officers gathered information and advised the owner of the property, then completed a report of the incident. 

At 12:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the Super 8 Motel. Officers met with the owner who reported a dispute with a customer. Officers met with the individual, advised them to vacate the premises, and completed a report of the incident.

September 22

At 12:36 p.m., officers responded to a report of a bus light violation at the Bus Barn on Monroe Avenue. It was reported a vehicle had passed a stopped bus, which had the stop arm and lights activated. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:52 p.m., officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers met with the individuals involved in an altercation. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 6:17 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision at FMC Park. It was reported a vehicle was traveling around the westbound curve and struck the guardrail on the bridge. Officers met with the driver of the vehicle, who was found to be suspected of driving while under the influence. Officers placed Joseph James, of Green River, under arrest and issued citations for alleged DWUI and failure to provide proof of liability insurance. Officers transported James to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.
