Boys soccer finds winning ways

The Wolves have made a turn around in the past week, earning three wins on the pitch. Last week, the boys defeated Star Valley 1-0 and followed that up with a win 2-0 against Evanston.

Tuesday, the boys slowed down Rock Springs' game and defeated the Tigers 2-0.

According to coach Jorge Salsedo, the boys' confidence has grown in the past few weeks as they compete better with their opponents. With Rock Springs, Salcedo said the boys followed through on the play the coaches and team drafted prior to the game.

He also noted some players have improved over the past few weeks and specifically mentioned Brett Stanton as a player who has contributed greatly to the team's recent success.

"His role is essential to the team," he said.

The boys will take on Kelly Walsh Friday and Natrona County Saturday in the team's last two home games of the season.

Action against Kelly Walsh begins at 6 p.m. at Wolves Stadium, while the Natrona County game begins at noon.

Salcedo said he and the coaching staff will continue to work with the team to improve their skills leading into the two games.

He said both teams will be tough competition for the Wolves, but believes the Green River squad can end the week with two more wins.

Green River's final county game, a rematch against the Tigers, takes place April 28 at Rock Springs High School.
