New apparel business opens in GR

A new business offering clothing and other locally-sourced gifts recently opened a physical location on Flaming Gorge Way.

Twisted Timber Apparel initially started as an online shop last November, but has since grown to a physical location at 560 E. Flaming Gorge. According to the business's owner, Kayla Duncan, she's happy to have a physical location because shopping for clothing online isn't the same experience as doing in person.

"There's something about trying on cloths, touching and feeling (the cloth)," she said.

The name itself comes from a piece of wood Duncan spotted during an outdoor ATV ride she and her husband enjoyed with some friends. Riding along a dirt road, she spotted a unique piece of twisted wood amongst the brush and trees. After picking up the piece and eventually placing it in her backyard as a decoration, the name "Twisted Timber" solidified itself in her mind as the name of the shop.

Twisted Timber's establishment and growth comes from the fact the business is a family affair, with Duncan's husband and children all pitching in. The designs found on the clothing are based on artwork Duncan oldest children have created. The clothing itself aims to be comfortable camp and outdoor clothing that can also be worn while running errands.

While Twisted Timber is an apparel company, the store has partnered with a number of other companies to provide other goods, including a line of hot sauces and candles. Duncan credits the owners of Red White Buffalo, Barry and Bonnie Tippy, with helping talk her family into expanding Twisted Timber into a physical location.

Overall, Duncan hopes the clothing Twisted Timber offers can help people appreciate the beauty found in Western Wyoming, outside of the places many commonly think of like the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. She also hopes people find the store's unique offerings to be something that brings them to Green River.

"We want people to think Green River for fun stuff," Duncan said.
