Sweetwater County School District No. 2 is one of the best districts in the state. By any metric, SWSD No. 2 stands out as an example for others to follow.
Looking at Tuesday’s school board meeting, it isn’t hard to see why. Students were a major focus for the night, with All-State recipients from both the Green River High School swimming and wrestling teams receiving recognition for their athletic accomplishments.
Students performed as part of Music in Our Schools Month. Students from Expedition Academy showcased their projects involving building sustainable houses and programing robots.
Our local schools strive to provide the best opportunities for students and seeing them succeed both in and out of the classroom only highlights the value of the education the district provides Green River’s children. The district’s graduation rate is also top-notch, listed at 89.5% according to data from the Wyoming Department of Education, surpassing the state’s average of 82.4%.
One of the key reasons for our students’ success is the dedication Green River’s educators have in their roles. The district is home to Brittney Montgomery, a first-grade teacher at Harrison Elementary School who was named the 2022 Teacher of the Year, as well as Anne Marie Covey, the principal at Washington Elementary School who was named Wyoming’s National Distinguished Principal of the Year. While both educators are recent standouts, the district is filled with employees dedicated to education. Regardless of if they’re coaching young athletes or hosting after school events aimed at piquing a student’s interest in learning outside the classroom, it’s the students who ultimately benefit from that dedication.
We’re proud of the accomplishments seen throughout Sweetwater County School District No. 2. It is a district that truly does it right.
