Green River Police Department reports for Sept. 21

At 10:40 a.m., Animal Control Officers responded to a report of a dog bite on Mississippi Street. Officers met with an individual who reported their two dogs were fighting and they were bitten in the process of breaking up the fight. Neither dog had a current rabies vaccine and were impounded. Officers transported the dogs to the Green River Animal Shelter and they will be held on a 10-day rabies quarantine. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 10:44 a.m., officers responded to a report of found property at Harrison Elementary School. Officers collected a taser, booked it in as found property, and completed a report of the incident. 

At 2:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with an active warrant. Officers made contact with the individual, confirmed the warrant, and placed the individual, a juvenile, of Green River, under arrest per the active warrant. Officers transported  the individual to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 3:18 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hitching Post Drive and Wind River Drive and issued the driver, a juvenile, 17, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding.

At 7:05 p.m., officers responded to a report of a found juvenile. Upon arrival, the parent/guardian of the juvenile arrived on scene as well. Officers met with the individuals and advised. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 8:09 p.m., officers responded to a REDDI (report every drunk driver immediately) report of a vehicle that crashed into a pole on Uinta Drive. Officers met with the driver of the vehicle and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from their person. Subsequently officers placed Rebecca Johnson, 41, of Green River, under arrest for alleged driving while under the influence and unlawful possession - plant form less than 3 ounces.

Officers transported Johnson to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 22

At 3:25 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Hitching Post Drive and Anvil Drive and issued the driver Roy Lucero, 62, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding in a school zone.

At 9:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with individuals involved in a verbal dispute and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

Sept. 23

At 8:54 a.m., officers responded to a report of an empty rifle case found at the gun range on Scotts Bottom Road. Officers were able to locate an owner of the gun case, turned it over to the owner, and completed a report of the incident. 

At 1:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary. Officers met with an individual who reported they observed a known individual on their property attempting to pull the door open. Officers contacted the suspected individual and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 3:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of fraud at Bomgaars. Officers met with the store manager who reported that an individual was spotted under the loading dock and left a bunch of opened mail. Officers collected the mail, which appeared to belong to several different individuals. The US Postal service was contacted and officers completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation. 

At 4:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Upland Way and Colorado Drive. It was reported one vehicle was traveling southeast on Upland Way and stopped at the intersection. A second vehicle was traveling northeast on Colorado Drive when the first vehicle pulled out into the intersection and the front bumper of the first vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of the second vehicle. Officers completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 24

At 8:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of East 3rd South Street and South 2nd East Street. Officers attempted to contact the owner, tagged the vehicle, and completed a report of the incident.

At 9:28 a.m., officers responded to an emergency school safety drill at Washington Elementary School. The drill was completed successfully.

At 10:24 a.m., officers responded to a report of threats/harassment. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving harassing text messages and phone calls from a known individual. Officers advised and completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 12:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a missing person. Officers met with an individual who reported a family member missing. Officers were later notified the individual had made contact and was ok. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 2:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance on Mansface Street. Officers met with an individual who reported they had seen two individuals outside the building in the late hours of the previous night and when they tried to make contact with the individuals they fled the area. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 3:07 p.m., officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the Loaf N Jug on East Flaming Gorge Way. It was reported a vehicle pulled into the north west gas pump. A fuel truck was parked directly to the west of the vehicle. As the fuel truck pulled forward the rear passenger side tires of the truck rubbed against the driver side bumper of the other vehicle. The fuel truck then left the area. The owner of the truck was contacted and the driver returned to the scene. Officers completed a report of the incident. No citations were issued.

Sept. 25

At 12:02 a.m., officers while on patrol observed a vehicle parked in a parking space on the east side of the parking lot of Hilltop Baptist Church. Officers made contact with the driver and detected the strong odor of suspected marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Officers subsequently located paraphernalia and suspected marijuana. Officers issued two juvenile occupants, 17, of Green River, each a citation for alleged unlawful possession - plant form less than 3 ounces. Officers notified their parents or guardians and completed a report of the incident.

At 2:56 a.m., officers responded to a report of a subject removal on Upland Way. Officers met with individuals involved in a dispute. Both parties agreed to be civil. Officers advised and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:46 a.m., officers responded to a report of malicious mischief. Officers met with an individual who reported an open door of the property and a latch that was broken. Officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 6:53 a.m., officers responded to a report of a five-vehicle crash. It was reported a vehicle was traveling east on East Flaming Gorge Way when the vehicle left the lane of travel and struck the driver’s side of a second vehicle that was parked on the south side of the roadway. The first vehicle continued to travel east and struck the drivers’ side of a third vehicle which was parked on the south side of the roadway. The first vehicle then left the roadway, striking the rear passenger side of a fourth vehicle which was parked on the south side of the roadway, causing the fourth vehicle to move forward striking the rear of a fifth vehicle which was parked on the south side of the roadway. The first vehicle then continued on its movement to the right and made contact with the chain link fence on the property of a residence. Officers made contact with the driver and requested emergency medical services to the scene. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the driver’s breath and subsequently issued the driver of the first vehicle, Candon Jones, 33, of Green River, a citation for alleged driving while under the influence of alcohol. Candon was transported and later booked into the Sweetwater County Detention Center for alleged driving while under the influence of combination alcohol and drugs. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 5:24 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny at Wyoming Downs. Officers met with an individual who reported their cell phone was missing or stolen. Officers met with the suspected individual but did not locate the cell phone. Officers were later notified the cell phone had been found inside the establishment. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 8:41 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious person walking in the roadway on East Teton Boulevard. Officers made contact with the individual, advised, and completed a report of the incident.

At 11:01 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding at Monroe Avenue and West Teton Boulevard and issued the driver, a juvenile, 15, of Green River, a citation for alleged no valid driver’s license and/or violation of conditions.

At 11:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Hitching Post Drive. Officers arrived in the area and met with individuals involved in the disturbance. Officers subsequently placed James Muniz, 43, of Green River, under arrest for alleged aggravated assault and battery - threatens to use a drawn deadly weapon. Officers transported Muniz to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 26

At 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on East 3rd Street. Officers met with the individuals involved in the verbal dispute. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 9:34 a.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with an individual who reported a verbal dispute. The parties had already separated and officers completed a report of the incident. The GRPD did not release the address officers responded to.

At 11:33 a.m., officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision at Maverick. It was reported a semi truck had hit an electrical box. Officers met with the driver of the truck who advised they did not turn wide enough to negotiate the turn, and had to leave the scene to turn the truck around. Officers issued the driver Evan Austie, 24, of Nevada, a citation for alleged improper lane use. Officers completed a report of the incident.

At 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Andrews Street. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal dispute. The parties separated and officers completed a report of the incident.

At 7:44 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Hillcrest Way. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal dispute. The parties separated and officers completed a report of the incident.

At 8:17 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance on Upland Way. Officers met with the individual and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 27

At 8:20 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Uinta Drive and Miller Street and issued the driver Rebekah Morrison, 32, of Green River, a citation for alleged speeding in a school zone.

At 8:48 a.m., officers responded to a report of a truck towing a trailer that lost cargo through an open door of the trailer at mile marker 14 on Highway 530. Officers issued the driver, Charles Bergmeier, 63, of Mckinnon, a citation for alleged load on vehicle violations.

At 1:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Moran Drive. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal dispute and completed a report of the incident.
