Green River Insurance owner retires

A familiar face has taken over Green River Insurance after its longtime owner retired last month.

Crystal House took over the company at the beginning of May after owner-agent Christine Montgomery retired. Montgomery said she plans to spend more time with family and enjoy her retirement.

"It was time to move on," she said.

Montgomery originally took over Green River Insurance after buying the business from a Pinedale-based group more than a decade ago.

House has worked at Green River Insurance for the past 10 years. Prior to taking over the business, House has said she had to seek approval from the different agencies the business regularly deals with. She said they hoped everything would have been worked out by May, but that didn't happen.

"I'm still working on it," she said. "It's a lengthy process."

Montgomery isn't worry about the future of Green River Insurance, saying House is certainly ready for the new role.

"Some people are not cut out to be an agent," Montgomery said. "Crystal is very capable of being an agent."

When asked what the best part of being an insurance agent is, both women had the same answer.

"When a client comes in and is facing some challenges and you're able to help with those challenges," Montgomery said.

"That is the rewarding part," House added.
