Lady swimmers earn 4 wins

The Lady Wolves swim team won four of the five duals they competed in this weekend in Green River.

On Friday, the Green River High School Lady Wolves swimming and diving team competed against Cheyenne Central High School, Cheyenne East High School and Jackson Hole High School. They won all three duals they competed in Friday.

On Saturday, it was back to the pool for the Lady Wolves who had to turn around from an evening of competition and compete against one of the best in the State - Laramie High School. They lost their dual to Laramie, but won their second dual against Jackson.

"We had some great competition this weekend," head coach Colleen Seiloff said.

The Lady Wolves also picked up two more state qualifiers this weekend. Amaya Spartz qualified in the 500-yard freestyle, while Madison Bauers qualified in the 100-yard breaststroke.

"The relay teams (had) awesome times this weekend," Seiloff said.

The Lady Wolves 200-medley relay team broke the school's pool record Friday night, but Laramie broke it again Saturday morning.

"I think they have the ability to get that back," Seiloff said about the relay pool record.

Seiloff said the Lady Wolves knew tough competition was coming to Green River and prepared accordingly. They were able to beat Cheyenne Central, which is another highly competitive team.

The team continues to get better despite competing week after week with illnesses. For some reason, the Lady Wolves have been sick from the start of the season and still are.

"We usually fight sickness, but not at the beginning and dragging it out this long," Seiloff said.

However, the Lady Wolves haven't let the illnesses stop them from being competitive in the pool.

This week, they'll have a chance to rest up since they will only have to travel to Rock Springs on Saturday. The meet starts at 10 a.m.
