Summer fun with the library

The Sweetwater County Library hosted their end of summer event last Wednesday. The mini medieval faire included crowns, swords, shields, cotton candy, tattoos, renaissance games and archery.

Youth Services Director Becky Iwen was excited to be there and make the cotton candy for everyone.

“The support our library system receives from the community year round, but especially during the summer reading challenge is overwhelming,” Iwen said.

The faire took place at Centennial Park, giving the kids lots to discover for the afternoon.

Ryan Smith attended the event with his cousins and played the game Kubb.

He and his cousin, Tobi Vaughn, liked this game the best out of all the activities.

“I like playing this game with my cousin,” Smith said. “He has a good strategy, which makes it hard to beat him.”

While the summer events are coming to a close Iwen was quick to talk about their upcoming events in the fall. Starting in September the library will partner with WyoMovies to reward kids with free movie tickets after completing challenges.

They will also host a stuffed animal sleepover with a “Toy Story 4” theme.
