Ernesto 'Ernie' Rivera

Ernesto ‘Ernie’ Rivera, 65, of Farson, passed away Nov. 26, 2016 at his home. A longtime resident of Farson, Rivera died following a sudden illness. 

He was born Oct. 3, 1951 in Hudson, the son of Jose Ted Rivera and Priscilla Martinez.

Rivera attended school in Rock Springs and was a high school graduate. He also attended technical school for heavy equipment.

He married JoAnn Wanda Lavery in Rock Springs Jan. 1, 2000.  He worked for Bozner Construction for many years and retired in September 2016.   

His interests included hunting, fishing and cooking. 

Survivors include his wife JoAnn Rivera of Farson; two step sons, Kenny Grunder of Green River and Robert Grunder of Farson; two step-daughters, Jerrelynn G.R. Cowett of Rock Springs and Brenda Rodriguez of Las Vegas; two brothers, Murrell Rivera and wife Marsha and Teddy Rivera, all of Rock Springs; two sisters, Frances Reed and husband Doyle and Laurie Cheadle, all of Rock Springs; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Juan; two sisters, Mary and May and a brother-in-law, Rick Cheadle.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be conducted Jan. 21, 2017 from 1-4 p.m., at the American Legion Archie Hay Post No. 24 in Rock Springs.
