Indoor track ready for state tourney

There were plenty of top ten finishes in Laramie for the Green River High School Indoor Track team.

Competing at the University of Wyoming, the Wolves had 13 athletes finish in the top 10.

Head coach Steve Boyd while the meet was a tune up for this week’s state meet in Gillette, the team got some things done they wanted to accomplish.

The top finisher for Green River was Josie Givens who won the 400 meters.

Senior Holly Huber also had a solid performance finishing third in the 55-meter hurdles.

Junior Tyler Vendetti and freshman Andri Dewey both had good all-around performances.

Vendetti finished fourth in the long jump, fifth in the 55-meter hurdles, and seventh in the triple jump.

Dewey placed fifth in the long jump, sixth in the 200-yard dash and ninth in the 55-meter dash. Boyd said that Dewey joined the team after the completion of the freshman basketball season and she has a chance to do well at the state meet.

Other top ten finishers included Sarah Herd placing sixth in the 55 meters, Eliza Morin finishing fourth in the high jump, Mylee Minard placed sixth in the shot put, Trey McGhee was eighth in the 200 meters and Tommy Kelly placed sixth in the high jump.

Looking to the state meet, Boyd said the team is ready to go and it should be fun.

“We’ve got some kids that will do pretty well,” he said.
