Wolves finish regular season

Last week the Green River Lady Wolves volleyball team found themselves in two down to-the-wire matches.

Unfortunately, neither ended in their favor as they lost two five-set matches. They lost Tuesday on the road against Evanston and than Friday on senior at night at home against Riverton.

In the match against the Lady Red Devils, Green River dropped the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-20, before winning the next two 25-17 and 25-20. Evanston won the fifth and final set, 15-13.

Head coach Rikki Shantz said she was not pleased with the way the team played and it was one of their worst passing and hitting games all season.

In the final regular season game against the Wolverines, Green River was able to win the second and third sets, but was unable to close it out with Riverton winning the final two sets, 26-24 and 15-6. Shantz said she was pleased with the way team performed against Riverton.

She said the five seniors on the the team Kasey Turnbull, Sarah Herd, Shannon Hlad, Jenny Dunham and Florine Ogre were a great group and had many positive intangibles.

“They’ve been a fun group,” she said.
