Volunteers clean up Scotts Bottom area for National Day of Service

On Wednesday, September 11, members and friends of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joined with the Green River Parks and Recreation Department and the Green River Greenbelt Task Force to complete four projects at Scott's Bottom Nature Area.

"There were about 50 people of all ages weeding, raking, carrying branches, painting and enjoying root beer," Patsy Sorensen said. "And it was all accomplished in less than two hours."

New paint was put on the gazebo and the horseshoe pits were weeded and cleaned. Large branches were placed across a trail due to the danger of people walking too close to an erosion threat. The fourth project was tearing down a tepee which the Game and Fish considered a fire hazard.

"Thanks to the Greenbelt Committee, the City Parks Department, and all the volunteers that helped," Sorensen said.
