Green River Police Department reports for Aug. 30 - Sept. 5

Aug. 30

At 4:33 p.m., officers responded to Smiths at 905 Bridger Drive for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported both vehicles were backing out at the same time and collided. Officers met with the drivers and completed an incident report.

At 8:56 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of MM 91 I-80 EB and issued the driver a verbal warning for alleged speeding.

At 9:22 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of MM 91 I-80 EB and issued the driver, Johanna R. Smith, of Ohio, a citation for vehicle superintendents speed zone - 6+ miles per hour over.

At 10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of MM 91 I-80 EB and issued the driver a verbal warning for alleged speeding.

At 10:34 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of MM 91 I-80 EB and issued the driver a verbal warning for alleged speeding.

Aug. 31

At 1:09 a.m., officers responded to Loaf N Jug at 1325 Bridger Drive for an alarm. It was reported an individual was causing problems and harassing the clerk. Officers located the subject at Wash & Play Laundry at 1315 Bridger Drive and made contact. Officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the subject’s breath. Officers ascertained the subject had been previously trespassed from that location. Officers subsequently placed Adrian D. Bodney, of Green River, under arrest and issued citations for alleged trespass - refusing to leave when asked and public intoxication- 3rd or subsequent offense. Officers transported Bodney to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed an incident report.

At 8:28 a.m., SROs, while on regular SRO duties, observed students possessing a vaping device. Officers gathered information and issued two juveniles, ages 14 and 16, of Green River, citations for the alleged use or possession of tobacco by a minor. Officers met with the admin and a parent/guardian. Officers gathered information and completed an incident report.

At 9:29 a.m., officers responded to the Bus Barn at 200 Monroe Avenue for a report of a bus light violation that occurred on August 29. Officers gathered information and made contact with the driver. Officers issued the driver, Sage Mahaffey, of Green River, a citation for alleged meeting or passing a stopped school bus. Officers then completed an incident report.

At 12:53 p.m., CSOs responded to a report of property in violation of the City ordinance 17-1(a) Weeds. Officers met with the property owner, advised of the violation, issued a notice to abate, and completed an incident report.

At 1:18 p.m., officers responded to the area of Idaho Street for a report of an individual who appeared to have stashed something in the bushes. Upon arrival, officers located a shoe across the street that had suspected marijuana, a suspected marijuana pipe, and a lighter. Officers gathered information, collected the items, and completed a report of the incident.

At 2:18 p.m., officers responded to a report of an agency assist with Probation and Patrol agents. Officers placed Randy Von Christensen under arrest per an active arrest and hold order. Officers transported Christensen to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed an incident report.

At 6:34 p.m., officers responded to the area of Riverview Drive and Aspen Street for a report of a vehicle that struck a deer. Officers gathered information and located the injured deer. Officers dispatched the deer and completed an incident report.

At 8:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with individuals involved in a physical altercation. EMS transported one individual to the hospital. Officers gathered information and subsequently placed Nathan Garrett, of Green River, under arrest for alleged child abuse - responsible for child welfare, inflicts physical injury. Officers transported Garrett to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:39 p.m., officers responded to a report of a barking dog complaint. Officers met with an individual who reported the dog as a nuisance. Officers met with the dog’s owner, advised of the complaint, issued a verbal warning, and completed an incident report.

At 10:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of a larceny. Officers met with an individual who reported that they had caught someone breaking into a vehicle and the subject was last seen running east. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate anyone in the area. Officers gathered information and completed an initial incident report. No items were reported missing.

September 1

At 8:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of threats/harassment. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving threatening messages through Facebook Messenger. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:37 a.m., officers responded to a report of a court order violation. Officers met with an individual who reported being contacted by an individual with an active protection order. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. 

At 11:49 a.m., CSOs responded to a report of property in violation of the City ordinance 17-1(a) & (b). Officers made contact with the property owner, advised of the violations, issued a notice to abate, and completed a report of the incident. 

At 12:28 p.m., officers responded to the area of Lincoln Circle for a report of a found cell phone. Officers met with the owner and returned the phone.

At 4:47 p.m., officers responded to the area of Madison Avenue in regards to a theft. Officers met with an individual who reported items missing that had been left inside a vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed an incident report.

At 6:55 p.m., officers responded to the area of E Teton Boulevard to collect property that was to be held for safekeeping and completed an incident report.

At 7:10 p.m., officers responded to the area of Kentucky Street for a report of vandalism. Officers met with an individual who reported that individuals had been throwing rocks into their yard. Officers met with the subjects responsible, advised of the complaint, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:46 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of E Flaming Gorge Way and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed.

At 8:07 p.m., officers responded to the area of Bridger Drive for a report of possible shots fired. Officers met with individuals who reported that they saw fireworks being lit off. Officers attempted to locate the violators, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:34 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of W Virginia Place and issued the driver a written warning for an alleged when headlamps required violation.

At 9:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with individuals who were involved in a dispute, gathered information, and completed an incident report.

At 10:29 p.m., officers responded to the area of Blake Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers met with individuals involved in a dispute and an individual who had been bitten by their dog. Officers impounded the dog due to a lack of a current Rabies vaccination record. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 2

At 7:54 a.m., officers responded to the area of MM 90 on Highway 374 for a report of a vehicle that hit a deer. It was reported a vehicle was traveling eastbound into Green River when a deer ran out into the roadway and the vehicle struck the deer. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 1:24 p.m., ACOs responded to a report of a barking dog complaint. Officers met with the reporting party, gathered information, and attempted to make contact with the dog’s owner. Officers left a message for the owner to contact animal control and then they completed an incident report.

At 3:11 p.m., officers responded to Smith’s Food & Drug located at 905 Bridger Drive for a report of a vehicle with improper license plates. Officers met with an individual about a vehicle regarding a registration violation. Officers gathered information, issued a citation to Amber Merrick, of Green River, for alleged vehicle registration violation - expired or improper registration, and then completed an incident report.

At 6:48 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Evans Street and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed.

At 7:38 p.m., officers responded to the area of Riverview Drive in reference to a disturbance. Officers met with an individual who reported another individual was being disruptive and caused property damage to a vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 3

At 12:48 p.m., officers responded to Hitching Post Restaurant at 580 E Flaming Gorge Way for a report of larceny. Officers met with a server who reported a dine-and-ditch. The server reported monetary losses as they were required to pay for the ticket due to company policy. Officers attempted to contact the owner of the restaurant, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:47 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Maverik at 59 Uinta Drive for a report of a disturbance. It was reported that a road rage incident had occurred on I-80 and then the vehicles pulled into the Maverik parking lot where the drivers were involved in an altercation and one individual brandished a hatchet. The subject threatened an individual and then left in their vehicle. Officers gathered information and attempted to locate the subject. Officers then completed an initial incident report.

At 6:01 p.m., officers responded to the area of Juniper Street for a report of civil issues. Officers met with an individual who reported concerns regarding a custody agreement. Officers made contact with the other parent, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

Sept. 4

At 8:32 a.m., officers responded to the area of MM 4 on HWY 530 for a report of two deceased dogs in the roadway. Officers located a license plate in the roadway and contacted the registered owner. It was reported that a vehicle was traveling northbound. It was raining and dark when the dogs ran into the roadway and the vehicle struck the dogs. The driver stated they observed the dogs to be deceased and proceeded to work. The owner of the dogs was notified and officers completed a report of the incident.

At 9:04 a.m., officers responded to a report of threats/harassment and met with an individual who reported a prior verbal dispute. Officers met with the individuals involved, gathered information, and completed an incident report.

At 11:28 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of N 7 W Street and issued the driver a verbal warning for an alleged registration violation.

Sept. 5

At 5:12 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Shoshone Avenue and issued the driver a verbal warning for an alleged stop sign violation.

At 5:24 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hillcrest Way and issued the driver a verbal warning for an alleged stop sign violation.

At 5:39 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Uinta Drive and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed.

At 5:40 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hoover Drive and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed and headlights - (2) one on each side violation.

At 6:15 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of E 2 S Street and issued the driver a verbal warning for alleged headlight and registration violations.

At 8:56 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Monroe Avenue and issued the driver a verbal warning for alleged brake light and registration violations.

At 11:01 a.m., officers responded to Pennsylvania Boulevard for a report of fraud. Officers met with an individual who reported receiving a call from an individual claiming to be from Publishing Clearing House. The caller asked for gift cards to be purchased. The individual did not give any personal information or comply with the caller’s request. Officers gathered information and completed an incident report.

At 12:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual with an active warrant. Officers met with the individual, confirmed the warrant, and placed Delroy Trujillo, of Green River, under arrest. Officers transported Trujillo to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 1:04 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with the individuals involved in a physical altercation. Officers gathered information and subsequently placed Brian Trotta, of Green River, under arrest for alleged domestic battery - 1st offense. Officers transported Trotta to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed an incident report.

At 2:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual threatening other people. Officers met with the individual, confirmed the individual did not possess any weapons, gathered information, and completed an incident report.

At 3:06 p.m., officers responded to E 4 S Street for a report of property damage. Officers met with an individual who reported finding property that had been painted. Officers gathered information and completed an incident report.

At 5:29 p.m., officers responded to Probation and Parole located at 140 Commerce Drive for a report of an individual with an active arrest and hold order. Officers met with the individual, confirmed the order, and placed Rachael Rodriguez, of Rock Springs, under arrest. Officers transported Rodriguez to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:04 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Bridger Drive and Hitching Post Drive for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was stopped at the stop sign on Bridger Drive and another vehicle was traveling west on Bridger Drive approaching the intersection when the second vehicle struck the rear of the first vehicle. Officers met with the drivers, gathered information, and issued the driver of the second vehicle, a juvenile, age 17, of Green River, a citation for alleged inattentive driving with a crash.

At 8:38 p.m., officers responded to the area of Riverview Drive for concerns about the welfare of two dogs. Officers met with the owner of the dogs and gathered information. Officers advised the owner of the current unsanitary living conditions, issued a verbal warning to abate, and completed a report of the incident, which was forwarded to Animal Control.

At 8:40 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Cedar Circle and issued the driver a verbal warning for an alleged tail light violation.
