Lady Wolves soccer team puts up a fight against Cody and Powell

The Lady Wolves Soccer team played two home conference games last Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the girls played a conference game against the Powell Lady Panthers. Green River fought to win but lost the game with a score of 3-5. Head Coach Matt Robles felt they struggled finding their footing. Green River got down early and had to fight their way back into the game. The girls put a lot of effort into working back to tie the game at 3-3, but just couldn't get the go-ahead goal.

"We looked like a team in our second game," said Coach Robles. "We made a lot of mistakes and Powell took advantage of them. However, the fight and heart the girls showed to get back in the game was a big positive."

On Saturday, Green River played an intense game against the Cody Fillies. Coach Robles feels they played a solid game all around. He said Cody has a very good team, they are very fast and ranked #1 for a reason. The Lady Wolves played really good defense throughout the game, which limited Cody's opportunities of scoring.

"We were a lot better defensively against Cody than we were against Powell the day before," said Coach Robles. "Our shape and positioning was much better. We still made some mistakes that they took advantage of, and we need to learn to limit those mistakes."

The Lady Wolves lost the conference game with a score of 3-6.

Green River traveled and played another game on Tuesday against Lander. The Lady Wolves came home with a victory over Lander, 6-3.

Green River will travel on Friday to play Lyman and on Saturday they will travel to play Mountain View.
