Green River Police Department reports for Feb. 28 - March 6

Feb. 28

At 8:54 p.m., officers responded to Bridger Drive in reference to a report of suspicious activity and persons in the area. Officers met with an individual who reported two unknown individuals that had been in the area. Officers attempted to locate the individuals, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:52 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of W 2 S Street and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed.

March 1

At 12:46 p.m., officers responded to the GRPD lobby to empty the prescription drug drop off box. Officers collected the medications, booked them in for future destruction, and completed a report of the incident.

At 2:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of W Flaming Gorge Way in reference to a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle in the drainage ditch. Officers made contact with the driver and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from within the vehicle. James Wilder, of Utah, was later placed under arrest and issued a citation for alleged DWUI alcohol - incapable of safely driving. Officers transported Wilder to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to Smith’s, located at 905 Bridger Drive, for a report of a larceny. Officers met with the store manager who reported that two individuals had shoplifted from the store and they wished for them to be trespassed from the property. Officers were able to identify the individuals and attempted to make contact. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Uinta Drive and issued the driver a written warning for an alleged when headlights are required violation.

At 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Officers met with the individuals involved in a verbal dispute. Officers gathered information and ascertained one of the individuals had an active warrant. Officers placed Jason White, of Green River, under arrest per the active warrant, transported White to the Sweetwater County Detention Center, and completed a report of the incident. 

March 2

At 1:44 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no tail lights on E Teton Boulevard at N Riverbend Drive. The driver was later found to be under the influence of alcohol and was incapable of safely driving. Officers placed Joni Depaola, of Rock Springs, under arrest and issued citations for alleged tail lights/license plate required violation and DWUI of alcohol .08 or greater. Officers transported Depaola to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:46 p.m., officers responded to the area of N 1 E Street for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was pulling into a parking spot adjacent to a second vehicle when the passenger side of the first vehicle struck the rear driver’s side of the second vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:58 p.m., officers responded to the area of E 2 N Street for a report of a resident feeding the deer. Officers issued a citation to Christine Siverston, of Green River, for allegedly feeding deer.

At 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the GRPD for a report of a citizen assist. Officers met with an individual who reported a protection order violation. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 10:04 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Monroe Avenue and W Teton Boulevard and issued a written warning for alleged tail lights/license plate light required violation.

March 3

At 12:40 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver Tony Barnson, of Utah, a citation for alleged DWUS.

At 9:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of a citizen assist. Officers met with an individual who reported items missing from their garage. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation.

At 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of a student in possession of a tobacco product. Officers met with the school admin who reported they responded to a positive vape detection alarm and located a vaping device. Officers met with the student, confiscated the vaping device, and issued a citation for alleged use or possession of  tobacco by minor to a juvenile, age 16, of Green River. Officers notified a parent/guardian and completed a report of the incident.

March 5

At 1:57 a.m., officers responded to the Bucking Bar at 50 E Flaming Gorge Way for a report of a physical fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers located an individual that was assaulted by another individual. EMS was called and the individual was transported. Officers attempted to locate the other individual, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation. 

At 7:17 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Shoshone Avenue and Hitching Post Drive for a report of a two-vehicle crash. It was reported one vehicle was traveling south on Hitching Post Drive and a second vehicle was traveling east on Shoshone Avenue, with both vehicles approaching the intersection. The second vehicle was unable to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection and the two vehicles collided. During the course of investigation it was found that the driver of the second vehicle was driving while under suspension, and suspected of driving while intoxicated. The driver, Ernest Short, of Green River, was placed under arrest and issued citations for alleged DWUI - alcohol of 0.08% or more - 2nd offense within 10 Years; driving while license canceled, suspended or revoked - 1st offense; maximum speed limits - speed too fast for conditions - crash; and failure to maintain liability coverage - 1st offense. Officers transported Smart to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 7:32 p.m., officers responded to the area of Bridger Drive for a report of a citizen assist. Officers met with an individual who requested assistance in returning property to another individual. Officers conducted a property exchange and completed a report of the incident.

At 8:53 p.m., officers responded to the area of Trona Drive for a report of a suspicious circumstance. Officers met with an individual who reported being contacted by an individual at their residence who was not who they stated they were. Officers attempted to locate the individual and completed a report of the incident.

At 11:47 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the are of Mckinley Street and Madison Avenue and issued the driver Tony Barnson, of Utah, citations for allegedly driving while license canceled, suspended, or revoked and failure to provide proof of liability insurance.

March 6

At 12:28 a.m., officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Officers located one of the individuals as they were driving away from the scene and obtained a statement, but were unable to make contact with the other half. It was reported the dispute was only verbal. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
