Boys basketball still seeking a win, fall to Evanston and Jackson

The Wolves Boys Basketball team played a conference game against Evanston on Thursday, February 16. It was an intense game for both teams. Unfortunately, during the second quarter Green River lost control of the game and went into halftime down by 19 points. They spent the rest of the game trying to make a comeback but fell short. The Wolves lost to the Red Devils 65-70.

Leading the team was Theron Archibald with 23 points and Caleb Lake with 12 points. Archibald also had four rebounds along with Caleb Lake with six assists and five steals.

On Saturday, Green River traveled to Jackson to take on the Jackson Broncs in another conference game. Head Coach Laurie Ivie feels the boys didn't get off the bus ready to play. Green River fell short on points and on getting control of the ball. They let Jackson get ahead and couldn't catch up. They fell to the Jackson Broncs 29-49.

Leading the team for the Wolves was Kason Ivie with eight points and Chris Wilson with seven points. Ivie also had seven rebounds and two assists, along with Theron Archibald with three steals.

Coach Ivie expects the boys to continue trying to be the hardest working team on the court, be disciplined and be resilient. The boys will continue to work hard and see if they can come up with a win before regionals next week.

Green River will travel to play the Rock Springs Tigers today at 7:30 p.m. in Rock Springs. They will travel to play Star Valley for their last conference game on Saturday.

The 4A West Regionals begin March 2 through March 4 in Star Valley.
