Lady Wolf track star signs with Colorado Mesa

Green River High School track and field athlete Kaelea Gibson recently signed her letter of intent to compete for Colorado Mesa University.

Gibson will be attending CMU this fall and studying business while she competes in her favorite track and field event, the high jump. This spring at the 4A West Regional track meet in Casper, Gibson was the high jump regional champion, clearing 5-04 inches.

"I've just loved [track and field] because I started it in middle school and then just grown with it," Gibson said. "I want to continue."

Gibson explained she enjoys the way track and field has both a team aspect and individual aspect.

"You focus on what you want to improve," she explained.

Looking back on her time as a GRHS Lady Wolf, Gibson said she loved the whole experience, and is especially thankful for all the people she's met along the way.

When it came to continuing track and field in college, Gibson was impressed with CMU's track team and coaching staff, as well as the general atmosphere of the school.

"When I went to tour the campus it was super pretty and really nice there," she said. "It all kind of just came together."
