Louise Schaffner

Louise Schaffner passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022. She was born on Aug. 29, 1923, in Medicine Bow, to Charles and Hilda Leeberg Kizzire.

She graduated from Granger High School in Granger, in 1941.

Louise was a member of the Baptist Church.

She married Hank Schaffner, in August of 1941 in Ogden, Utah. They were married for 44 wonderful years. He passed on March 3, 1986.

Louise taught nursery and preschool for many years and participated in the Women's Missionary Union of the Baptist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, making plastic canvas, and pulling weeds.

Louise was quiet and had a fun-loving disposition. She loved kids and spending time with her family. She had an immaculate yard and found peace and solitude making it look impeccable.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

She is survived by her children Bonnie Schaffner Alcatraz and James Henry Schaffner (Lorene); daughter-in-law Jackie Bell Schaffner; grandchildren Ronald Howard Alcatraz (Katharine), Michael David Alcatraz (Natalie), Christina Louise Alcatraz, Claire Schaffner Long (Jarvis), and Wesley Schaffner; seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Peggy Kizzire; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Louise is preceded in death by her husband Hank; sons Tom and Wes; brothers Cliff Kizzire, Chester Kizzire, and Carroll Kizzire; sisters Charlene Wilson and Betty Sims.

Graveside services took place Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at the Bayard Cemetery, Bayard, Nebraska.
