GRHS grad gets NFL opportunity

Former Green River High School football player Hunter Spartz is gearing up for a shot at the big time after being invited to the New England Patriots mini camp as an undrafted free agent.

Hunter is a 2017 graduate of Green River High School who had earned All Conference and All-State as an offensive lineman during his junior and senior years. During his senior year, he was selected All-Conference as a defensive end.

Following graduation, he enrolled with Montana Tech and began studying petroleum engineering, joining the Orediggers football team. Hunter was redshirted during the 2017 football season, then played in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, earning Academic All-Conference accolades during both seasons.

The Montana Tech website lists him as a redshirt junior.

According to an article on Montanasports.com, Spartz accomplished a 30-inch vertical leap and 28 reps on the bench press during Montana State University's Pro Day. The article also notes that Spartz is the first undrafted free agent from the school since 2013.

According to the Montana Tech, Hunter's father Bret Spartz also played for the Orediggers and graduated from Montana Tech.
