Boys seek to keep momentum against Tigers

Being the top ranked team in their quad and the second ranked team in the 4A West, Green River High School’s varsity boys basketball team seeks to keep the train rolling as they head to the regional tournament next week.

Last week, the boys took on the Red Devils in Evanston and left with a 73-45 win. The boys’ winning ways continued at home Saturday, when the team took down the Jackson Hole Broncs 69-49.

Head coach Laurie Ivie attributes the boys success with being able to play consistent basketball throughout all four quarters -- something they struggled to do early in the season.

“Consistency has been a big key for us,” she said.

Against Jackson, the Wolves out-rebounded their opponents and had four players score in double digits.

“That was a great team achievement,” she said.

The boys prepared for the annual Make-A-Wish game against Rock Springs tonight, which is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. in Wolves Stadium. Ivie said the boys have been participating in extremely focused practices to help prepare them for the regional tournament next week. The boys are currently set as the second seed in the tournament, with Riverton being the top-seeded team.

“We want to continue playing consistent basketball as we head into Regionals,” Ivie said.
