Democrats seek treasurer applications

Ever consider being in public office? The recent opening left by retired Sweetwater County Treasurer Robb Slaughter gives local Democrats an opportunity to fill the remainder of his term.

The Sweetwater County Democratic Party seeks applications for candidates interested in the role and will accept them through July 14. As the position was held by a Democrat, the party is tasked with providing the Sweetwater County Commissioners three candidates to serve the remainder of Slaughter’s term, which ends in 2022.

Slaughter’s last day with the county was July 1.

“Robb Slaughter has served the people of Sweetwater County well for more than three decades -- we truly thank him for his work and dedication to our communities. We are searching for a candidate who will serve Sweetwater County with the same level of commitment and professionalism that Robb has shown during his time in office,” Meghan Jensen, Chairperson of the Sweetwater County Democratic Party said in a press release.

To apply, the person must be a registered Democrat living within the county and provide a resume, cover letter and three references. Applications must be emailed to sweetwatercounty@wyodems.org.

The county party will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m., July 15, at the Sweetwater County Library in Green River. During the meeting, party members will have a chance to meet with candidates for the position and the precinct committee members will vote on the nominees.

The top three nominees will be sent to the Commissioners July 16.

The party’s meetings are open to the public and online access to the meeting can be requested by sending an email to sweetwatercounty@wyodems.org.
