More swimmers qualify for State

A long weekend of competition may have exhausted the Wolves swimming and diving team, but they continued to impress, qualifying four additional swimmers for the State meet.

The qualifiers are Cole Gilmore, Levi Westburg, Braden Fry and Kayson Snow. In total, 17 of the team’s 20 members have qualified for events at State, which include the full roster of divers. Head coach Colleen Seiloff said the State competition rules allow for the five divers to compete, but only the top four will score points for the team.

Overalll, the Wolves dominated the two-day meet they hosted, despite swimming in three competitions during that time. COVID-19 protocols limit the number of athletes in the pool at once, which caused Green River High School to host four separate competitions.

“We’re a little more tired,” Seiloff said. “We were doing some quality swims throughout the weekend.”

While other teams won’t compete until after the end of the year, the boys are set to travel to Laramie for a two-day competition Dec. 30-31.

“I’m really happy with how hard they’re working,” Seiloff said.
