Amber Alert child found safe in Rock Springs

A broken-down vehicle led to the recovery of a 10-year-old child abducted from Idaho Falls, Idaho.

According the Wyoming Highway Patrol, at 7:08 a.m., a WHP trooper was notified of a broken-down vehicle near mile marker 32 on Wyoming Highway 430 south of Rock Springs.

The trooper located the vehicle and realized it matched the description of a vehicle described in an Amber Alert issued out of Idaho Falls, Idaho, that was believed to have been traveling to Pueblo, Colo.

The trooper detained the driver and questioned the person about the Amber Alert, asking if the juvenile described was in the vehicle.

The driver responded that the female described in the alert, as well as the juvenile were in the vehicle.

The trooper then asked all three to exit the vehicle and the child was recovered unharmed. The child was turned over to Wyoming Department of Family Services staff. The trooper also found misdemeanor amounts of marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle as well.

The driver and passenger were arrested and have been identified as Eugene A. Trujillo and Gabriella A. Rodriguez. Trujillo has been charged with kidnapping, interference with custody, accessory before the fact, and child endangerment with methamphetamine. Rodriguez has been charged with kidnapping, interference with custody, child endangerment with methamphetamine, and two counts of third offense possession of a controlled substance.
