City receives major award

The Green River Parks and Recreation Department received a prestigious award from the National Recreation and Park Association for its management of the city’s parks and its public programs.

The city received the Gold Medal Grand Plaque for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management Monday evening during the Green River City Council meeting.

The city joins four other communities in receiving the award this year, with the city being chosen for municipalities of 30,000 residents or less.

The city is the first in Wyoming to receive the award. It was also a finalist for the award in 2011.
