LMS student to appear on public lands podcast

A Green River student will appear on a podcast produced by Wyoming Public Media and the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

Molly Stanton, 13, a student at Lincoln Middle School, joins two students from Cody in exploring the Bureau of Land Management and public lands for "Kids Ask WhY." The podcast features journalists aged seven to 13 asking questions and exploring topics related to Wyoming and the modern American West. Stanton will appear on the podcast's second episode, which releases Oct. 13.

"Children have a natural curiosity about the world around them, and they also have idyllic optimism," Emily Buckles, interpretive specialist at the Center of the West and a producer of the podcast series said. "Their refreshing views of the American West remind us to occasionally look through the lens of a child."

More than half of Wyoming's land is owned publicly and administered by either the state or federal governments. Stanton explores the importance of publicly-owned lands for hunting and wildlife conservation through an interview with Green River resident Josh Coursey, founder and CEO of the Muley Fanatic Foundation.

According to a release from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, Stanton grew up in southwest Wyoming and has been exposed to all things outdoors. She and her family go fishing, camping and hunting frequently. Her family also owns a cabin which they use all the time. Some of her hobbies indoors include playing volleyball, doing all things 4-H and hanging out with family. Most of the time you can find her working with her turkeys for 4-H or playing outside with her sister.
