More commercial land proposed in Jamestown

If a request to change zoning near the Love’s Travel Stop is approved next month, it could result in more commercial development near Interstate 80’s Exit 85.

Jim Zimmerman, the code enforcement specialist for the Sweetwater County Land Use Office said the a zone change on land owned by Corner Property LC for a portion of land directly across where the Love’s truck stop is being built on Wyoming Highway 374. The property is zoned for rural residential use. A hearing is scheduled for the county’s planning and zoning board Oct. 13, with the final approval before the Sweetwater County commissioners set for Oct. 20.

According to maps from the planning and zoning office, the area would be subdivided into five commercial lots, with a road leading through the section to a planned mobile home park behind the commercial section. Additional commercial land is available next to the Love’s Travel Plaza divided into 17 lots and will be serviced by three planned streets -- Ox Bow Drive, Ox Yoke Drive and Round Up Drive.

With the Love’s Travel Stop, Zimmerman said the developers anticipate completion to be in early 2021. He said drywall was hung in the convenience store and restaurant building, with windows anticipated to be installed by the end of the week. Zimmerman also said paving to Highway 374 will also be completed this week, with pavement for the entire property to be completed in early October.
