Building closures extended

Green River’s municipal buildings will remain closed until May 18, according to a press release from the city. The extension was made after consideration of the federal, three-phase process to open the economy.

Despite the extension, the city is working to reopen its public buildings.

According to the release, the city wants to minimize the risk of spreading COVID-19 within the community and amongst city employees.

The release cites several questions that need to be answered, stating that the city will modify its policies as those questions are answered. The city also needs time to prepare for the eventual openings.

“We need this time to bring back essential staff, educate and train them on the orders, access additional required safety and protective equipment and communicate to patrons the service levels that will be provided and expectations of them as patrons,” the release states.

The city will be focused on health order modifications until the city reopens.

City administrators are also monitoring the situation and want to avoid reopening city buildings and services in a way that may result in future COVID-19 closures.

“We recognize that becoming adaptable and staying safe at this time are of utmost importance. The actions we take now will allow us to be stronger and more agile in our processes and into the future when we come out of this crisis,” the release states.
