Bomgaars opens in GR

Green River residents can start shopping at Bomgaars this week.

Located in the former Shopko building next to Smith’s, Green River’s Bomgaars store opened Tuesday.

Bomgaars is a general merchandise retailer with an emphasis in farm and ranch supplies and offers automotive wares, power tools, and clothing departments, among other wares.

“Everyone’s been happy with the store,” employee Ken Rhodes said.

Rhodes said the store was consistently busy throughout opening day and said he heard a number of positive comments throughout the day.

“I think this is what Green River needs,” city resident Dottie Krauss said.

Bomgaars announced it would open a location in Green River earlier this year, after initiating renovation work at the former Shopko building.

“This is a great market,” Aaron Bomgaars, the vice president of property management and store development told the Star in January. “We’re looking forward to coming into the community,” he also said.

Overall, the chain operates 11 locations in Wyoming, including locations in Rawlins, Diamondville, and Pinedale. In total, the chain operates 93 stores in a seven-state area.

“I think this is wonderful” Krauss said.
