Our View:Ready for fair fun

It’s that time of the year again. Fair time.

It’s something we not only enjoy going to with our families and friends, but covering it for the newspaper. What’s not to like?

From the special entertainment, concerts and carnival rides to 4-H shows and exhibits of all kinds. There’s so much to do and not enough time to do or cover it all, but we sure try.

Over the years, the fair has had numerous special entertainers. One special event we’re looking forward to seeing this year are the duck races. This event was at the fair a few years ago and it was amazing. We can’t wait to see which ducks will be the fastest this year.

Another event we really enjoyed was the butter sculpting, which was something unique to see. We also enjoy the huge transformers that made a special appearance at the fair last year. Children and even adults were amazed at the size of those robots.

As for animals at the fair, some of our favorites have been seeing baby pigs, bunnies and goats.

One of the fairgoers’ favorites however, has been the long horn. Some years, residents have even had the chance to milk a cow by hand, which was also a favorite for us.

As for a new event, we can’t wait to see what the world of Bugology will have in store for fairgoers. We are sure this particular show will be a real hit with children, especially those who are fascinated with bugs.

Another group that seems to have returned to the fair is the Mountain Bike Stunt show. If this is like the one we’ve seen at the fair in the past, it’s something fairgoers will want to check out.

For those who are looking for music to entertain them, they are certain to find Trace Adkins, Dylan Scott, Gary Allen, Ratt, Puddle of Mudd, Saliva, Trapt, Saving Able and Tantric entertaining.

Plus, there’s so much great fair food to eat.

From just about anything sold on a stick to deep fried goodness of all sorts. We’d honestly visit the fair just for the food, but there’s so much fun stuff do and cover that we seem to work those things in between our snacks.
