After school strings program to perform

Sweetwater Board of Cooperative Educational Services will present students of the After School String Program in concert Monday at 7 p.m. at the Rock Springs Junior High Auditorium.

The open and free to the public event will feature violin students of Green River and Rock Springs presenting solo and ensemble performances will be: Ashlyn Piaia, Reghan Obray, Nevaeh Bryant, Taylor Burnham, Sally Lew, Sophia Millens,  Brook East, Adelyn Welchman, Mari Atwood, Trinady Beatty, Korbyn Carpenter, Lilia Faudoa, Kiera Forbush, Laura Ramos, Tayla Heer, Svetlana Martin, Marely Hernandez, Kylie Wells, Gabryelle Bates, Linden Propst, Aiden Rauzi, Bivian Sarabia-Pitones, Kaliya Burnham, Elizabeth Hamilton, Cade Maynard, Whitney Keller , Brianna Dale, Logan Boyer, Breanna Quickenden, Naomi Clutter, Galilea Rodriguez, Evelyn Wilkerson, Jeremiah Fennell, Genavieve Stewart, Lila May, Allison Folks, Coriinne Folks, Connie Johnson, Samuel Wilson, Asya Mikula, Jose Ruiz, Antony Ruiz, Donna Guillen, Marcia Petersen and Esther Bae.

Cello and viola players will include Donna Guillen, Sarah Wessel, Sacha Bentley, Dallon Owens, Samuel Wilson, Xzander Schwartz and Parker Allen.

The program will be divided into four level Ensemble groups. 

Music of the first beginners group will include; “Solemn Processional,” and “Power Rock.” The second group, Intermediate 1, will perform: “Soundscape,” “Prairie Trail,” and “A Beethoven Lullaby.”

Intermediate 2 will perform “Huevos Ranchero,” and “Baroque Suite,” and the advanced ensemble will present: “Ballade,” ‘Plink, Plank, Plunk” and “Danse Macabre.”

Solos performed by members of each group will include traditional melodies, classical and folk tunes, hymns, anthems and movie themes.

Directing the program will be instructors, Marcia Petersen and Sarah Wessel.

The After School String Program has provided string instruction to students of Sweetwater County grades three through adult for nearly two decades.

Weekly individual and group instruction takes place in several of the schools in Sweetwater County School District No. 1 and Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs and Green River.
