Jackie Wallace Sweets

Jackie Wallace Sweets, 80, passed away March 18, 2019, at his home in Rock Springs. He was a life-long resident of Rock Springs.

Jackie was born Feb. 17, 1939, in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of Robert Wallace Sweets and Edna Mae Burton.

He attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1958 graduate of the Rock Springs High School.

Jackie married Barbara Williams Winfrey Oct. 23, 1965 in Casper. They were together for 54 years.

He worked as a welder for FMC for 35 years until his retirement in 1999.

Jackie was a Christian who loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a trustee. He also helped with church work.

He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife; Barbara Sweets of Rock Springs; mother-in-law, Ruthie Miller of Rock Springs; three sons, Ivan Sweets and wife Pam of Green River, Kevin Sweets and wife Vicki of Denver, and Jackie Sweets Jr. and wife Clancy of Lawrenceville, Ga .; three daughters, Tanya Carter and husband Don "Tricky" of Las Vegas, Tammy Green and husband Chris Kadunc of Denver and Shari Farmer and husband Darrel of Chicago; two sisters, Martha Shakelford of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Judy Sweets of Rock Springs; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; andtwo great-great-grandchildren.

Sweets was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Clarence, Jerry; five sisters, Geraldine Tullock, Margaret Washington, Patty Crouch, Katherine Jackson, Betty Calhoun; and one granddaughter, Crystal.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, 513 G St., in Rock Springs. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
